ISLAND QUEST
Travel through the salt marshes of St. Helena Island and reach a pristine barrier Island that is home to over 260 different species. Hike along dune ridges, and out to a quiet beach that is a popular resting location for shorebirds. This program is hike intensive and focuses on maritime forest flora, fauna and shorebird stewardship.
Island Quest is a 4-hour school field trip led by our expert guides, designed for grades 6-12, college, and continuing education.
BOAT EXCURSION
This quick, but impactful, field trip experience is a perfect outlet for many educational topics. Both locations have a focus on salt marsh ecology, but each location has something the other cannot offer. Boats depart from our Basecamp on St Helena Island and our Downtown Beaufort marina outpost.
The Boat Excursion is a 2-hour school field trip led by our expert guides, designed for grades 2-12, college, and continuing education.
BEACH DROP
A marine and terrestrial experience! This trip creates a fun and exciting way to develop a well-rounded understanding of a salt marsh above and below the water line. This field trip pairs very well with a variety of educational activities like cast-netting, seining, beach combing, beach hiking, birding, etc. There are endless ways to turn students into conservation stewards.
The Beach Drop is a 3-hour school field trip led by our expert guides, designed for grades 2-12, college, and continuing education.
ESTUARY KAYAK
Kayaking through the estuaries of the Lowcountry builds a deeper connection with the environment as students become eye-level with their surroundings. Students will experience the estaury as if they are critters that are living within it. Destinations include blackwater and the salt marsh estuary.
Besides learning about these environments and all that is found within them, kayaking is a great team-building activity for the students as they have to work together while paddling in a tandem kayak.
The Estuary Kayak is a 2-hour school field trip led by our expert guides, designed for grades 6-12, college, and continuing education.
